PEACE GONG KASHMIR
Javed Naqi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Higher Education and is currently based in Srinagar. A native of Kargil in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Javed earned a B.Sc. in General Science and a M.Sc. in Zoology (Parasitology) from University of Kashmir, Srinagar. He also holds a M.Phil. degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His M.Phil. Dissertation was on The AIDS Epidemic in Brazil, India and South Africa: A Comparative Evaluation of State Responses. Javed’s doctoral research at Jawaharlal Nehru Univeristy New Delhi, examines the global health governance of emerging infectious diseases. His research interests include international health, international politics, conflict resolution, peace building, governance, human rights and human security.
Javed has also been associated with organizations such as Amnesty International, International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal, Salaam Balak Trust and India Social Forum. He is the co-facilitator, ambassador and founding member of the Asia Pacific Youth Network, formed by young people and rights organizations from 20 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
Javed is Counselling Supervisor with Saksham, The Global Fund to fight for AIDS TB & Malaria and has attended in representative role at international meetings like the International Criminal Court State Assembly of Parties, the Hague, Netherlands; Young Change Makers Summit, Netherlands; Asia Pacific Youth Leadership Meet, Hong Kong; ICJB Annual Strategy Meet etc.
In 2009 Javed took the initiative to mobilise the youths of Ladakh region on a common platform to voice for the concerns of the people of Ladakh. This initiative saw more than 1000 youths joining the network called Zojila Watch and actively participated in taking online and offline actions. Javed is also the founder of Think Ink in 2011 – a youth and children led network that develops writing/reporting skills in rural young people to write on issues they are passionate about.
His experience with Peace Gong reminds, “We, as a team, have purposefully promised one important objective of our life, that is, we endeavour to endorse ‘peace’, we pursue to promote ‘peace’, and we love to invite you be the proud owner of, “The Peace-Gong”.
Lavanya Garg, currently studying economics at Lady Shri Ram college, got only a single opportunity to write for the Peace Gong when she was in class 12th and loved it! So she was overjoyed at the prospect of becoming its coordinator. Social work has always given her immense pleasure. In her early years she lived in areas where the HDI was as low as 3.7, areas where even access to electricity was a luxury. Aware of the acute inequalities that exist she is today an 18 year old girl ready to help change the society in whatever little way; by helping those in need and creating awareness.
Afifa Lone, a social work graduate from Kashmir University, is currently working as a Project Coordinator in CHINAR International,a non-governmental organisation. Afifa a social work graduate from Kashmir University, is the Youth Coordinator of The Peace Gong Kashmir. She has been a part of the Peace Gong initiative since the last two years. Now she is trying to bring together children from all parts of the Jammu and Kashmir so that they can contribute to peace and facilitate dialogues using their new communication skills.
Lecturer of Media Science by profession under WBUT and also associated with All India Radio in Siliguri. She has completed her Bachelors and Masters in Mass Communication and Journalism and was awarded with Silver Medal for being the topper in university during her Graduation from the then Governor of West Bengal. Has already volunteered with the method of IGEMs during her post graduation, now got the chance to coordinate her Peace Gong team members of Siliguri.

A dynamic teenager from a remote village, Aswin aims to become a scientist in the field of bio technology. A fine team player, Aswin exhibits true leadership qualities and works selflessly for connecting talented children and youth from the villages of Wayanad. Aswin is the media and public relations coordinator of Peace Gong Malayalam. Aswin, along with a group of students has taken lead in conducting the My World post 2015 survey in Wayanad. A voracious reader and writer Aswin believes that discrimination has to be wiped out from education as well as social spheres.
Through initiatives like the Peace Gong, we hope to develop great understanding of the media and society amongst children. We hope to work together to take Peace Gong in small towns and villages of India and abroad.

Passionate in leadership training and team events, Roshan emerged as a young leader of Wayanad from the Leadership Democracy movement. Ever since the age of 13 Roshan has been training students, sometimes even elder to him as part of the AFRC-Leadership Democracy training team. Better known for his team management skills, Roshan is interested in empowering village children and youth with technological knowledge sharing. Roshan is interested in archeology. Roshan has been presented with a medal for outstanding achievement by Rabigh TOASMASTERS, Saudi Arabia.

A spirited leader to emerge from Leadership Democracy, Pooja is a sports person appearing in many national events in athletics and hand ball. She dreams of achieving a high position in medical field and wishes to dedicate her life for the empowerment of India. She is interested in bringing up village talents to the national level. Pooja has presented a paper on rural leadership at the international conference on food security organized by Uravu research Centre Wayanad. Pooja has been presented with a medal for outstanding achievement by Rabigh TOASMASTERS, Saudi Arabia.

Akhin Sreedhar is keenly interested in scientific projects. His projects have regularly found space in district, state science exhibitions. Akhin is also interested in film making and is looking forward to leave his mark in the areas of sound mixing, editing and camera. Akhin was selected to be a delegate to attend a conference in which former president of India APJ Abdul Kalam was the guest of honor. Akhin has been presented with a medal for outstanding achievement by Rabigh TOASMASTERS, Saudi Arabia.
