Let’s all practice to express GRATITUDE

“Gratitude is the sweetest thing in a seekers life – in all human life. If there is gratitude in your heart, then there will be tremendous sweetness in your eyes.” – Sri Chinmoy

Life is a series of tiny little miracles. Notice them. Most of the time it’s the tiniest of things, most simple innocent and pure gestures which touch our heart and soul and fill us with happiness and utmost joy. In this constantly changing world, chasing after all big things , whether it’s the desire of having luxurious mansion, becoming a hit superstar , the most successful doctor , engineer or corporate honchos, we forget to stop for a second and breathe. We forget to breathe in the small things which might not appear to be useful individually but it was those little moments which were the stepping stones to the palace of our dreams.

It could have been that science quiz you won in class 10th, the first test in which you got a nice grade etc. It may be as simple as the smiling and proud faces of your parents when you took your first step. We don’t need an occasion to celebrate, it’s the simplest of moments which bring us peace.

In an attempt to achieve material success we forget to appreciate those words of hope and encouragement which got us through toughest of times , we forget how that book we read with a coffee mug in our hand and our pet resting in our lap brought us all the happiness in the world , took away all worries and calmed us down after the depressing and chaotic day we had. In our attempt to be great we forget to express our gratitude to all the things which supported us in worst of storms.

Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into clarity … it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow. Instead of thinking how things would have turned out better in the past, why not be grateful for them for not turning out to be worse. Instead of complaining of not living in that huge villa and not wearing that designer dress lets be grateful for having shelter over our head and clothes to keep us warm unlike crores of homeless, cloth less people dying of cold in the freezing, chilly night under the open sky. Let’s be grateful for listening to that favourite song of ours on radio when we were down. Be grateful for your family being by our side on the dining table. Be grateful for having your pet waiting for you everyday when you return home. “The more you praise and celebrate your life , the more there is in life to celebrate .”
